Physics in the Movies

This HW has two independent parts. Do each on a separate page, but submit them both together.
(1) Essay on “Physics in the Movies”. See posted instructions.
(2) Look up “Lawn Chair Larry” on the internet:
(a) In just a few sentences describe the incident that got him notoriety.
(b) Do a calculation to estimate the TOTAL volume of helium gas needed to cause such an incident. (Never mind over how many balloons it would be distributed; all we want to know is how much total volume would be needed.) Make reasonable assumptions for input quantities that are not explicitly given.
(c) If all that helium you calculated in part (b) were used to fill one single spherical balloon what would be the approximate diameter of that balloon

(d) Some versions of the story claim that the lift was caused by 100 ordinary party balloons. Is that believable, and why, or why not
Justify your answer with a calculation. (Note that for this assignment you obviously do not need to stick to the essay template. When doing calculations, show your work so that the grader can follow your reasoning. In numerical calculations always make it a habit to verify the units!)
