Module name: Factual Media Production
Module aim: As a group we created a taster tape for
university students being eco friendly in their student halls
Important note: read the assessment details and my explanation to understand the construct of the report
All details regarding my production are in red
You are required to submit a production report for part of your
assessment for Factual Media. The following is a guide on how to
approach this.
The project report has a word limit of 1500 words. It is an individual
evaluation of the taster tape you worked on, and your own personal
approach to the idea and processes followed to make it.
Please note that the assessment requirement should follow a report
format.
You need to analyse and discuss the concept and style of the
programme you anticipate making. If you were personally
responsible for some of the research behind the topic by all means
elaborate on your contribution.
The report must outline the development of the programme idea
and pitch including how you researched, developed and created the
vision for the taster tape. Focus on the content and story of the
factual programme and how the format was created.
How did the idea for the concept develop and what research
methods did you use. Include references to academic and/or visual
sources of research.
Justify the approach taken. If you think in hindsight the film might
have been better realised in a different style, than by all means give
your thoughts and justifications. What obstacles did you navigate
and how.
How effectively did you plan the concept and analyse how
effectively the narrative and style come across in the Taster.
Was your Creative Vision realised
DO NOT LIST WHAT YOU DID LIKE A PRODUCTION DIARY.
EXPLAIN YOUR DECISIONS.
You should also discuss and reflect upon your production role and
elaborate on how you contributed to the finished film. This
discussion should cover how you applied your production role from
an editorial and technical perspective. For example, how did you
develop the visual style as a camera operator, director or editor? No
matter what role you took you should discuss what skills you may
have gained via this venture.
Lastly, make sure your report has a good beginning, middle and end
- you should reference using APA to justify particular points, and you
should clearly establish an introduction to your report, lead to a
main body of topics, and then conclude. Refer to
Make sure you have a bibliography
Assessment 3 – INDIVIDUAL PROJECT REPORT – 20%
20th May -1500 WORDS
The report must outline the development of the programme idea
and pitch including how you researched, developed and created the
vision for the taster tape. Focus on the content and story of the
factual programme (beginning, middle and end) or how the format
was created. THE REPORT MUST ANALYSE AND EVALUATE
YOUR ROLE, CONCEPT OF THE TASTER.
THE MAIN BODY – Must discuss the process adopted from
development to post-production. Did you achieve what you set out
too.
The report MUST be written in third person and provide analysis on
research, how you applied this and how your final taster tape was
realised. Do not just outline what you did day to day as a group. The
report must analyse the process and reflect on the decisions made.
Consider the CONCEPT, RESEARCH AND RESOLUTION. How
closely did the film fulfil the brief. How did the idea evolve through
research and development. How will the programme be realised on
screen. How does it appeal to the target audience.
You must cite academic and/or visual references to styles of
programmes or factual content which have inspired your concept.
The submission must contain a Bibliography, which
evidences the student’s academic, visual and other research
undertaken. These sources should be incorporated into the
report and cited (using the Harvard APA system) to support
contentions and underpin explanations of creative
ambition, approach and rationale.
