For this assignment, you will write a 1,200-word critique1 worth 40% of your module grade.
Content
Your critique should be a critical evaluation of ONE article. You will be given three articles to choose
from and are encouraged to choose the one most closely related to your pathway. The topics are (a)
bias in artificial intelligence (b) investment in vaccines and (c) nuclear energy.
Your critique should have the following elements:
• Introduction
• Summary of key points in your chosen article
• Evaluation of the key points (strengths/weaknesses of arguments/data presented)
• Conclusion presenting overall evaluation
Your critique should:
• be based on ONE article from the links at the end of this document.
• refer to at least TWO other sources you will find yourself on the same topic.
• synthesise all sources. For example, your critique should include some comparison of the
arguments and evidence provided by the writers of the different articles.
• be aimed at an educated audience with no specialist knowledge of science.
• fulfil all aspects of the King’s Foundations Written Assignment Marking Criteria. You are
advised to familiarise yourself with these first.
Submitting the assignment
• The critique must be submitted to Turnitin via KEATS before 11am on Monday 17 January
2022.
• Submission after 10:59:59 will be considered a late submission and may result in penalties.
• It must be an MS Word file (not pdf or an Apple file).
• not exceed the word count – please refer to the King’s Foundations word count policy.
• The assignment must include a completed cover sheet. This document can be found on KEATS.
Guidance on referencing
You must acknowledge your sources appropriately, both in your critique and in your reference list.
Please ask your tutor for advice on which system to use.
Mitigating circumstances
• If you are unable to submit your assignment by the deadline and you believe you have a valid
